Location & Tips For Travelers
|
| Location - Japan is an island
nation which consists of some 1000 small island and four major
ones: Honshu, Hokkaido, kyushu and shikoku. Tokyo, Japans's capital
city remains a glittering example of the 'miracle' of post-WWII
Japan. |
| When to go - Spring is the best
time to visit Tokyo, particularly as cherry blossoms begin to
appear in early April and this is when the city is at its most
beautiful. Autumn, with its cool temperatures and many clear days,
while winter is marked by the occasional snowfall but rarely freezing
conditions. |
| Tokyo weather and climate - Tokyo
enjoys temperate to subtropical conditions for the most part,
and has four seasons. Spring, from April to May, is the time when
the famous peach, plum and cherry blossoms appear. Summer is from
June to August and in this season the city can be hot, humid and
experience a rain. |
| Visiting manners - Greeting someone
in Tokyo The Japanese custom is to bow when meeting somebody.
When to bow and how much to do so is something that is very complicated
and deeply ingrained in Japanese culture. |
| Tipping - Tipping is not common
in Japan. A service charge is taken by tourist hotels, it is included
in the hotel charges. Taxi drivers should not be tipped, however,
the visitor may offer a tip to those who provide service above
and beyond that expected. |
