Location & Tips For Travelers
|
| Location - Seattle is
on the western coast of Washington, the northwesternmost
state in the 'lower 48.' The largest city in the state,
Seattle sits on a skinny slip of land between the Puget
Sound and Lake Washington. Lake Union and the Lake Washington
Ship Canal divide the city into northern and southern
halves; downtown and the Capitol Hill and Queen Anne neighborhoods
lie south of the canal, the U District is to the northeast.
|
| Tipping - The standard
is 15% to 20 % in restaurants. Usually city residents
leave tips depending on where they eat. For other places,
$1 for the bartender per round, $1 to hotel porters and
doorpeople if they are hailing a cab for you. |
| Transportation - Seattle
Transportation (SeaTran) is among the newest departments
in Seattle City Government, although it has one of the
oldest missions: "To maintain and improve the transportation
system for the safe and efficient movement of people,
goods and services." |
