Times Square
	Midtown West Broadway at 42d St. New York, NY Broadway became synonymous with the theater as downtown theaters moved into the neighborhood, and the area became the center for the American popular-music industry."Crossroads of the World" became an even more important mass-media center.

Statue of Liberty
Completed in 1886, the statue welcomed incoming ships and came to symbolize American immigration after Emma Lazarus's poem, "The New Colossus," was inscribed on a bronze tablet. Ferries for Liberty Island leave from Battery Park, where tickets are sold at Castle Clinton. Be prepared for a long wait - and a steep climb - if you insist on reaching the statue's crown.

Yankee Stadium
	Home to the NY Yankees Baseball team who've won a record 26 World Series Championships. The "House That Ruth Built." The reference to our great stadium came from the endearing fans who wanted to pay tribute to Babe Ruth.

Central Park
59th to 110th Streets, West New York, NY The park's 843 acres of natural beauty are the result of meticulous planning. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Central Park was the nation's first landscaped public park.

The Empire State Building
	350 Fifth Ave. New York, NY (Between 33d and 34th Sts.) The Empire State was constructed at on the former site of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in 1930.

Brooklyn Bridge
Suspension bridge built (1869-83) over the East River to link Brooklyn to Manhattan island. It was designed by the cable manufacturer J. Roebling and his son Washington.
