Airport
Terminal and Flight Information Nashville International Airport:
BNA - Constructed as a Works Progress Administration project,
the airport was dedicated in 1936, and officially opened in June
of 1937. It was named Berry Field in honor of Colonel Harry S.
Berry, State Administrator of the WPA. The three letter identifier,
BNA, stands for Berry Field NAshville. The new airport consisted
of a terminal building, two hangars, a 4,000 ft. concrete runway
and a flashing beacon. American and Eastern airlines were the
first air carriers to serve Nashville, and within the year, 189,000
passengers had used the facilities.

| Location - To be found
deep in the heart of the eastern United States, Nashville
is situated between the Gulf of Mexico and the Great Lakes,
around the Cumberland River in northern central Tennessee.
World famous for its connections of Country and Western music,
Nashville is a busy and compact city full of office buildings
and shopping areas. The state capital of Tennessee, Nashville
has recently been revamped by an intensive renovation of some
of its commercial and historic buildings; an area of town
that is now a popular stop for visitors called 'The District'. |
| Nashville weather and climate
- Nashville's climate is pleasantly mild with light snowfalls
in the winter. The average summer temperature is 89 degrees
Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) and the winter average is
46 degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees Celsius).

| Getting around Nashville
- The downtown Nashville area is quite small and many of the
tourist attractions and business areas are easily managed
on foot. In addition, Nashville's public transport network
is an inexpensive, reliable and efficient way of getting around
the city.

When to visit - Close to the I-65, I-44, I-24 and
I-40, the 117-acre Tennessee State Fairground hosts various
events throughout the year, including the Tennessee State
Fair and the International Country Music Fan Fair. The State
Fair is held on the first Friday after Labour Day (early
September), for a week, from 10:00 am until midnight each
day. Each June, the International Country Music Fan Fair
attracts more than 20,000 visitors who celebrate a week-long
festival of the 'Best of Country Music' with more than 200
artists participating and over 30 hours of live entertainment.

| What to wear - In Nashville,
casual dress is usual for everyday wear and is becoming more
popular during business hours. Many businesses who normally
expect formal attire have dress-down Friday' when employees
can wear casual clothes to work, although management do not
always take part. Very few restaurants require a jacket and
tie.

| Tipping - The standard is
15% to 20 % in restaurants. Usually city residents leave tips
depending on where they eat. For other places, $1 for the
bartender per round, $1 to hotel porters
