Northwest to unveil new Airbus jets - Northwest Airlines is adding a new airplane to its fleet, which will be the carrier’s trans-Atlantic flagship for daily service to Europe. The Airbus A330 is the first new aircraft type to join its fleet since 1989. Northwest is buying 24 of the wide-body, twin-engine jets between now and 2008.
Virgin Atlantic offers stranded BA passengers discounts - Virgin Atlantic is offering voucher-holding British Airways passengers affected by the recent wildcat strikes a $160 discount if they book flights with Virgin. The airline said it would honor the $130 vouchers offered by British Airways and add an additional $30 discount to encourage fliers to choose Virgin Atlantic over British Airways.
Travelers may use check-in kiosk regardless of carrier - Travelers soon will be able to use airport kiosks to check-in and print a boarding pass regardless of which airline they fly. Several airports across the country are beginning to install these self-service kiosks. “The more we can decentralize the check-in process, the better facilitation we have for customer check-in and service,” says Colin Temple, manager of airport services for the International Air Transport Association.
