Airport
Terminal and Flight Information Denver International Airport :
DEN - Denver International Airport is located 23 miles
northeast of downtown Denver. The Denver International Airport
terminal building is named after Elrey B Jeppesen, businessman
and aviation pioneer, famous for his "Jepp" navigational
maps and charts. Spacious Denver International Airport encompasses
1.5 million square feet and its central atrium is constructed
of walled glass and features a uniquely shaped translucent roof.
Denver International Airport is the only airport in the world
where travelers can cross an active airfield via the bridge that
connects Concourse A to the Jeppesen Terminal.

Location & Tips For Travelers
|
| Location - Denver is a geographically
isolated city sitting exactly one mile above sea level and
over 600 lonely miles from the closest major city. Concealed
from the west by bold foothills and towering 14,000-foot peaks,
protected to the east by an expansive and unforgiving high
desert terrain, it is a place where everybody seems to be
from somewhere else. |
| Denver weather and climate
- Denver receives an average of 15 inches of rain each year.
The winter ski season lasts from November until March. Spring
is generally windy and wet with a warm summer and a mild Fall.
|
|
Getting around Denver - There are many options when
traveling from Denver International Airport to the downtown
area. The major hotels offer shuttle services, but reservations
are essential. The major car rental companies have offices
at the airport. There are also taxis and the local RTD bus
service. Once in Denver, the local public transport system
is probably the best way to get around the downtown area
of the city. The RDT bus service, for example is clean,
efficient and reliable.

When to visit - A big bonus when visiting Denver
is its close proximity to the spectacular Rocky Mountains.
One of the many beautiful parks that exist is the Rocky
Mountain National Park. The park preserves over 250,000
acres of alpine and sub-alpine wilderness. Snowy peaks,
crystal lakes, barren tundra and lush meadows characterise
this heavily visited park (avoid July and August if at all
possible).
With the notable exception of the superbly scenic alpine
drives, Rocky Mountain National Park is most credited for
its excellent hiking. Over 350 miles of spectacular trails
offer almost limitless possibilities, long and short.

|
What to wear - Business dress has become more informal,
but generally suits are expected for both men and women.
Casual clothes are fine for everyday wear, with the exception
of some restaurants and hotel lounges.
|
| Tipping - The standard is
15% to 20% in restaurants. Usually city residents leave tips
depending on where they eat. For other places, $1 for the
bartender per round, $1 to hotel porters
